About Shir Connection
In 2021, the Zamir Choral Foundation, through a Covenant Foundation Ignition Grant, launched Shir Connection, an intergenerational pilot program creating deep Jewish connection between high schoolers and senior adults. Using rich, music-based content, rooted in HaZamir’s inChoir curriculum, participants studied Jewish text, shared personal stories, and built lasting relationships.
At HaZamir, we know that music is a catalyst – for community, for deep learning, for connection to Judaism, for expression of self, for exploration of leadership, for transformational growth, for investigation of big ideas, and so much more. With music at the core, we’ve seen so much magic. Now, we’re excited to use this space to share that magic with you.
About HaZamir
HaZamir: The International Jewish Teen Choir, a program of the Zamir Choral Foundation, is a youth movement that welcomes Jewishly identified and musically talented teens from a broad range of cultural backgrounds and levels of religious observance. HaZamir offers high schoolers in 35 chapters across the United States and Israel the opportunity to learn and sing Jewish choral music at the highest musical standard and on the world’s greatest stages. In weekly rehearsals, regional gatherings, and the HaZamir International Festival, HaZamir teens study Jewish text and history, grow as leaders, cultivate a deep connection to Israel, and create enduring friendships that transcend geographic, political, social, and denominational differences. Together, the singers of HaZamir create harmonious unity and long lasting connections, to one another and Judaism, through excellence in music.
